This bird is only found in Hawaii and is in the honeycreeper family. On Oahu, they are mostly found near Pearl Harbor and Kaneohe. They feed in shallow water and mud flats for small invertebrates. They are known for luring predators away from their nests with a "broken wing" act to protect their eggs or young. |
