An introduced species,the Rock dove is commonly known as a "pigeon". It was brought to the Hawaiian Islands in 1798. The Rock Dove likes to build its nests on cliffs and other high spots and in urban areas this means rooftops and window ledges. This bird is hunted as a game bird in many parts of the world.
